The Labadi Beach, one of West Africa’s leading hotels, having suffered the ravages of time was completely refurbished and renewed in order to achieve five star rating. 

The additions and alterations for the Labadi Beach Business Resort
Hotel, located in Accra, Ghana, were designed by Co-Arc, in association
with OOA. The renovation of 104 existing rooms and construction of a new block consisting of 60 new rooms,including presidential suites as well as the complete revamp of the Central facilities were required to be completed whilst maintaining a fully functional hotel.

The new contemporary wing of executive rooms carefully placed on a restricted site, complements the existing traditional form and materials and creates a classic modern Ghanaian aesthetic. The use of wooden shingle roofs and timber detailing draws on the rich tradition of timber work in Ghana.

The careful attention to detailing and design has resulted in an opportunity to
substantially increase room rates as the new rooms are extremely popular.
New functional requirements such as air-conditioning and sprinklers have been
carefully integrated into the existing buildings during the complete reconstruction of the interiors.
